About FlatLine

We build the software we wished we'd had on the shop floor. FlatLine Software Solutions exists to close the gap between sheet metal design and sheet metal production — one flat pattern at a time.

Our story

FlatLine started inside a job shop, not a software company. Our founders spent years quoting, programming, and running sheet metal work — and watching the same bottleneck appear at every shop they touched: getting accurate, production-ready flat patterns out of CAD took far too long and went wrong far too often.

The macros we wrote to fix that problem for one shop turned out to be the tools a lot of shops needed. Those macros grew into our DXF FlatExport add-ins for Inventor and SOLIDWORKS, and FlatLine Software Solutions was founded to develop them into professional, supported products. Today our add-ins run in fabrication shops, OEM engineering departments, and machine builders' offices, quietly saving hours on every release to production.

What we believe

Meet engineers where they work

Nobody wants another standalone application. Our tools run inside SOLIDWORKS and Inventor, use the data already in your models, and respect the standards your company has already defined.

Automation should be trustworthy

An automated export you have to double-check saves nothing. Every FlatLine product validates its own output and tells you exactly what it did — and what it couldn't do.

The shop floor is the customer

A flat pattern is only good if the laser cuts it right and the brake bends it right. We judge our software by what happens at the machine, not just in the CAD window.

Support is part of the product

When you contact FlatLine you talk to an engineer who understands sheet metal, usually the same day. No ticket queues that go nowhere.
